SAN BENITO — Big changes are coming to campuses across the San Benito school district.

Earlier this week, school board members reviewed interim Superintendent Theresa Servellon’s reassignments of 14 principals and administrators as part of a move to “expand student services and improve student achievement.”

During Tuesday’s meeting, board members took no action after considering the “rational for recent reassignments within the district.”

The review came a week after Servellon announced her reassignments focusing on campuses including San Benito High School, Veterans Memorial Academy and the district’s three middle schools.

“Over the past several weeks, interim Superintendent Theresa Servellon has closely examined the district’s overall structure and has identified opportunities for the district to become more efficient and effective in response to student needs,” district officials posted on Facebook.

“As part of the united efforts and work in moving the San Benito CISD towards improved student outcomes, it was deemed necessary to align structures and efficient processes,” officials stated. “In doing so, leadership changes were carefully considered to expand student services and improve student achievement district-wide.”

Principals, directors reassigned

Servellon’s reassignments, effective July 1, focus on eight principals, two assistant principals and four program directors.

“These individuals are committed to a student-centered culture of excellence,” she stated. “I look forward to the extraordinary effort that each one will bring to their new role. An unyielding commitment to our students and doing what is best for them will always be at the forefront of our efforts. Let’s firmly embrace our district’s vision and continue to take positive steps forward.”
