The Brownsville City Commission has appointed deputy city manager Helen Ramirez to interim city manager for the City of Brownsville.

The appointment occurred at a city commission Tuesday when commissioners also accepted the resignation letter of city manager Noel Bernal, who will be moving to Colorado to serve a county manager for Adams County.

Bernal is scheduled to start his new job Aug. 8.

While serving as deputy city manager, Ramirez also serves as executive director of the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation.

In other business, the city commission selected the Mosaic Group to conduct a nationwide search for a new city manager.

According to Mosaic’s website: Placing today’s public leaders is our mission. Aligning the right candidates with the right opportunities helps our clients to build effective teams.
