A man threatening to jump from a 200-foot tower was rescued by firefighters in La Feria on Friday.

Here’s video of the rescue.

Negotiators with the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call shortly before noon Friday after the man threatened to jump from a lattice tower.

Cameron County Sheriff Eric Garza shared the developments on social media.

Fire departments with Brownsville, Weslaco and Harlingen arrived at the rural site as the man, who is still unidentified, clung to the metal spokes about 200 feet in the air.

The Weslaco Fire Department made contact with the man at about 12:07 p.m., according to the sheriff.

Working off a turntable ladder and ropes, firefighters secured the man who had threaded himself through the tower’s metal rods as he waited to be rescued.

About an hour-and-a-half later, the man was brought down and received medical attention, according to Garza.
