Donna man sentenced to 15 years for sexual abuse of a child

A Donna man will spend the next 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual abuse of a child last week, according to a news release from Hidalgo County.

Abraham Aguilar Robledo, 43, appeared before the 206th District Court and entered a guilty plea to aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact, the release said.

Judge Rose Guerra Reyna sentenced Robledo to 15 years for each count, both sentences will run concurrently, and must register as a sex offender. According to the release, a third count was dismissed.

“No child should have to suffer the physical and emotional trauma of sexual abuse, especially in their home and from someone that they trust,” Hidalgo County District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez Jr. said in the release. “All children deserve to be protected from pain and abuse.

“If you suspect child abuse, please reach out to your local law enforcement agency and report it.”

The case was handled by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office and Child Protective Services, which provided the family assistance, the release said. The Children’s Advocacy Centers of Hidalgo and Starr counties provided forensic examinations, interviews and counseling services to the victims.
