Hidalgo County reported one COVID-19 related death and 14 new cases Monday as hospitalizations remain low in the area.
According to the county, an unvaccinated Edinburg man in his 50s died due to complications from COVID-19. His death raised the county’s COVID toll to 3,896.
The county’s new cases also raise the overall total to 198,946.
There were four new cases among students and three among staff in county schools, health officials said in a news release Monday. There have been a total of 16,714 cases among students and 4,866 among staff since the county began keeping track of COVID activity in schools in August 2021.
There are 32 people in county hospitals with the virus, including 29 adults and three children. There were also 12 people, one being a child, in intensive care units.
The county reported 23 people released from isolation Monday, and there are 190 net active cases.
Hidalgo County has administered a total of 1,129,456 COVID-19 tests and 929,731 have had negative results.
