Harlingen police arrest shooting suspect

HARLINGEN — Police have arrested a Harlingen man suspected of shooting at a McDonald’s restaurant.

Police responded to a call of shots fired about 7 a.m. Wednesday in the 2000 block of South Business 77.

Police said when they arrived, they located a man suspected of firing two shots, striking the McDonald’s business twice. The man was later identified as Oscar Padilla-Becerra, 44, who was taken into custody without incident, and transported to the Harlingen city jail to await arraignment on the charge of deadly conduct, according to police.

Harlingen investigators said they recovered the handgun from the location. There were no injuries reported from the incident. This case remains under investigation.

Police said he was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon with bond set at $2,000 and deadly conduct with bond set at $5,000.
