The town of Rancho Viejo will be spraying neighborhoods in the coming days.
Officials say crews will spray on Friday from 5 to 9 a.m. and again on Sunday at the same time. The spraying will take place weather permitting.
Residents are asked to take precautions around their homes to stop the spread of mosquitos.
- Keep doors and windows closed.
- Stay indoors at dusk and dawn.
- Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. When practical, wear long sleeves and pants.
- Apply insect repellent containing DEET sparingly to clothing and skin.
- Inspect your yards and drains. Keep grass mowed regularly and trim your shrubs.
- Throw out any stagnant water sources in your yard. Even the smallest of containers that can collect water can breed hundreds to thousands of mosquitoes. They don’t need much water to lay their eggs.
- Repair leaky outdoor faucets and pipes.
- Keep gutters cleaned and unclogged
