Cameron County reported 32 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, but no new coronavirus-related deaths were reported in the county.
This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the county to 41,773, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement Wednesday.
The new cases include 17 laboratory reports of COVID-19 from unaccompanied minor shelters and detention centers, the health department said.
The new cases include two children in the age group of 9 years old or younger, four people in the age group of 10 to 19, one person in her 20s, six people in their 30s, one person in her 50s and one person in her 60s, the health department said.
New cases were reported in Brownsville, Los Fresnos, San Benito and South Padre Island.
There have also been an additional 83 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 39,386, the health department said.
Cameron County Public Health does not have any reports of COVID-19 related deaths of Cameron County residents for Wednesday, the statement said.
The current total number of COVID-19 deaths in Cameron County is 1,677.
Cameron County continues the vaccination efforts within communities.
As of Wednesday, 60.65% of the population 12 years and older in Cameron County is fully vaccinated and 72.98% has received at least one dose.
In addition, 79.15% of the population 65 years and older in Cameron County is fully vaccinated and 87.74% has received at least one dose.

As part of the COVID-19 action response plan, Cameron County Public Health is conducting epidemiological investigations, contact tracing as needed and continues to monitor the situation, the health department said in the statement.
