Local vacationers and travelers can now add three new Mexican cities to their list of available destinations using direct flights through McAllen International Airport.
The Mexican airline Aeromar announced Wednesday via press release that they will now be offering flights directly to Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosí and Torreón, further strengthening its partnership with the city of McAllen.
“It’s an extension that we’re really excited about and we’re hoping we keep on extending different legs of the initial flights,” McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos said. “Because, of course, they want us to visit them and we definitely want them visiting us in McAllen.”
This extended service will begin July 12 in conjunction with the existing Monterrey service.
Aeromar believes this move will help travelers avoid the trouble of making connections and changing terminals in crowded airports.
The announcement comes one month after McAllen announced two other flight routes to Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta through Aeromar.
Additionally, Aeromar will adjust schedules to enable same-day trips between Monterrey and McAllen and vice versa, as well as improved weekend schedules, which is ideal for business trips.
“We’re always trying to have more connectivity with different people from different areas,” Villalobos said. “I think we all know it establishes better relationships.”
The Mexican airline will continue to offer 27 nonstop, weekly departures this summer from McAllen to Monterrey, Mexico City and Guadalajara.
Of those 27 nonstop flights, 17 will be to Monterrey, eight will be to Mexico City and two will head to Guadalajara.
Aeromar will also offer three flights to Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosí and Torreón and two flights to Puerto Vallarta, each of them having an intermediate stop in Monterrey.
Flights are now available for booking with promotional introductory fares going as low as $139 one way.
