Six more deaths and 90 more cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Hidalgo County on Tuesday.
The death toll is now 2,775, according to a county news release, and the total cases stands at 85,296.
Of the new cases, 42 are confirmed and 48 probable.
Additionally, according to the release, half of the new cases are of residents in their 20s or younger.
Also on Tuesday, 167 people were reported to have been released from isolation due to the virus, leaving 1,602 active cases in the county.
There have been a total of 80,919 people who have recovered from the virus in the county, according to the release.
There currently are 114 people with COVID-19 in local hospitals, of which 45 are in intensive care units.
Neighboring Cameron County confirmed 73 new cases of the virus on Tuesday, and no deaths linked to the disease.
This brings the total cases there to 38,937, according to a county news release, while the death toll remains at 1,588.
