Daily cases of COVID-19 under 200 in RGV

Five more deaths and 144 new cases linked to COVID-19 were confirmed in Hidalgo County on Tuesday.

The death toll now stands at 2,765, and the total cases at 84,755, according to a county news release.

Of the new cases, 64 are confirmed, 22 probable and 58 suspected.

Also on Tuesday, 303 residents were released from isolating, raising the county’s total recoveries to 80,123. There are 1,867 active cases left.

Additionally, there currently are 106 people hospitalized due to the virus, of which 42 are in intensive care units.

Cameron County reported two additional COVID-19 related deaths and 41 new cases of the virus Tuesday.

The deaths include a Brownsville man in his 40s and a San Benito man in his 60s, raising the county’s death toll to 1,577.

Most of Tuesday’s confirmed cases are residents of Brownsville, which made up 17 of the 41 new cases, raising the county’s total to 38,584.

The county also reported that an additional 76 people recovered from the virus, raising that total to 35,834.
