One woman is dead and a man is in custody after police in Alamo responded to a report of a stabbing in the parking lot of a shopping plaza Thursday evening.
“At around 6:30 in the afternoon, we received a telephone call to the station in regards to a stabbing (that had) just occurred. Officers were in the area and within seconds, they arrived,” Alamo Police Chief Richard Ozuna said via phone.
The stabbing took place in the parking lot of a shopping plaza on Duranta Avenue, just east of Cesar Chavez Road.
“We were able to detain one male individual and we found a deceased female,” the chief said.
Officials say the man appears to be in his mid- to late-20s, while the deceased woman appears to have been in her mid- to late-40s.
Thus far, the incident remains under investigation and it is unknown what may have precipitated the stabbing, the chief said.
Ozuna added he does not expect additional arrests.
“It appears to be an isolated incident at this time,” he said.
The chief asks that anyone who may have been a witness to the stabbing, or who may have recorded video of the altercation, reach out to the Criminal Investigations Division of the Alamo Police Department by calling (956) 787-1454.
