Hidalgo County officials reported ten COVID-19 related deaths, as well as nearly 600 positive cases on Thursday.
A total of 588 new positive cases were reported on Thursday: 367 confirmed cases, 220 probable cases and one suspected case.
Thursday’s cases increased the county’s total positive COVID-19 cases to 70,353, with officials noting 2,233 cases are currently active.
The youngest among Thursday’s fatalities was a Weslaco woman in her 30s, and the others ranged in age, with the oldest in the 70s.
The COVID-19 death toll in Hidalgo County now stands at 2,536.
Hidalgo County’s Health and Human Services officials also reported 338 individuals were hospitalized in county hospitals, with 148 patients in intensive care units.
When compared to the county’s COVID-19 statistics from Wednesday, which reported 356 individuals were in hospitals, the number of patients in county hospitals slightly decreased by nearly 20, while those admitted in ICUs increased by seven.
Additionally, Hidalgo County officials also reported 586 individuals were released from isolation on Thursday, raising the total number of those released from isolation to 65,584.
As of Thursday, a total of 386,368 COVID-19 tests had been administered in Hidalgo County, with 315,267 results returning negative.
