Progreso police charged a Weslaco man with tampering with a government record after he used a four-letter expletive to sign his ticket instead of his name.
The “false entry” on a government record occurred Friday when a Progreso police officer pulled 49-year-old Gabriel Palomo over after the officer says the man failed to signal a lane change.
The officer explained the reason for the traffic stop, which included an obstructed license plate, and issued Palomo a municipal court summons, according to the affidavit.
“Mr. Palomo was asked to sign the citation in which Mr. Palomo signed ‘f— you.’ Mr. Palomo was asked if that was his name and said yes and that’s my signature,” the affidavit states.
The officer then arrested Palomo.
He bailed out of jail Sunday on a $5,000 bond, records show.
