Cameron County reports 6 more virus deaths

Six more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes, the county health department reported Friday.

Three deaths were reported in Harlingen and one death was reported each in La Feria, Olmito and San Benito, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement Friday night.

This raises the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Cameron County to 1,263, the health department said.

Also Friday, the health department said it has received confirmation on an additional 231 COVID-19 cases here, raising the total number of coronavirus cases in Cameron County to 33,748.

New cases were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen, La Feria, Lozano, Laguna Vista, Los Fresnos, Los Indios, Olmito, Port Isabel, Primera, Rancho Viejo, Rio Hondo, San Benito, Santa Maria and Santa Rosa, the health department said.

The new cases include seven children ages 9 and younger, 30 people ages 10 to 19, 37 people in their 20s, 23 people in their 30s, 42 people in their 40s, 38 people in their 50s, 32 people in their 60s, 15 people in their 70s, five people in their 80s and two people in their 90s, the health department said.

There have also been an additional 130 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 27,755.
