Tropical Storm Zeta forms in Caribbean; heads toward Louisiana coast

The National Weather Service in Brownsville reports Tropical Storm Zeta has formed in the northwestern Caribbean and is expected to move northwestward into the Gulf of Mexico by Tuesday, potentially as a hurricane.

The NWS reports the system is expected to continue northward toward the Louisiana Gulf coast on Wednesday. Locally, a cold front may arrive Tuesday with northerly winds and hazardous marine conditions.

The NWS reports locally, the Texas coastline will likely see an increased potential for the following impacts Tuesday and Wednesday:

>>Wave run-up potentially to the dune line, especially during high tide cycles Tuesday and Wednesday
>>Building surf and dangerous rip currents
>>Hazardous marine conditions
