Two suspects were arrested in connection to a stabbing incident that occurred outside of Brownsville city limits on April 26, according to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office.
“Dania Martinez and Julissa Castillo were arrested today (Friday) by members of the Criminal Investigations Division for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon,” the office wrote in a Facebook post.
“ On Sunday, April 26, a female victim was attacked and stabbed with a knife by one of the identified female suspects. The other brandished a handgun and shot approximately six rounds into the air,” the post stated.
Both suspects were remanded to the Cameron County Jail pending arraignment. “All suspects are innocent until proven guilty,” the department stated.
Cameron County Jail records confirmed that Martinez and Castillo were taken into custody on Friday. Both face two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
