Harlingen, Food Bank to distribute food to residents

The City of Harlingen and the Food Bank RGV have joined forces to distribute food to the community. Mayor Chris Boswell says many people are suffering as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“We know many in our community are without adequate food as many are without jobs or their businesses have been required to close.  The City of Harlingen stands ready to support the Food Bank’s operations as well as others to help with this shortage and crisis.”

To help, the City of Harlingen and Food Bank RGV will hold three food distributions in Harlingen.

The schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, April 22 – 9-11 a.m.
Wednesday, April 29 – 9-11 a.m.
Friday, May 1 – 9-11 a.m.

All three will be held at the Harlingen Soccer Complex located at 4515 East Harrison. They will be drive-through only.

Due to the Shelter in Place Order, only two people per vehicle are allowed and they must wear a face covering. They will not be allowed to get off their vehicle. Volunteers will place the food in the trunk and no food will be placed inside the vehicle.

When they arrive they simply have to follow the distribution line.
