SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — Throughout Texas and Mexico,Teresa Rodriguez’s career, has been showcasing her marketing and communication skills throughout Texas.
Her work focuses on the development, implementation and management of marketing campaigns that integrate content creation, public relations, social media, press conferences and special events.
Rodriguez’s 30-year professional career began as director of marketing and advertising for Aerolineas Internacionales, an airline based in Mexico.
Now, she’s going to bring her expertise to South Padre Island.
In early February, the SPI Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) named Rodriguez its new senior marketing and communications manager.
“ I’m very excited to be here on South Padre Island,” Rodriguez said. “Working with such a dynamic destination is truly a dream come true. It is an honor to be a part of an amazing team that showcases the beauty of the Island.”
Rodriguez graduated from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Mexico with a Bachelor of Science in communication and a minor in business administration.
During her 10-year tenure with Aerolineas Internacionales, she founded and served as editor of the airline’s monthly in-flight magazine.
Rodriguez later went on to serve as the McAllen Chamber of Commerce’s Vice President of International Relations and Community Development.
Additionally, she instituted relations with and coordinated the establishment of the consulates of Guatemala and El Salvador in Texas.
According to SPI CVB personnel, Rodriguez’s international relations experience, leadership skills and strong community stewardship ethic, as well as her love for the Hispanic culture and heritage, led her to be selected as President and CEO of the Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2012.
In 2015, she joined the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau as its chief public affairs and business development officer.
Throughout Rodriguez’s career, she has received various awards and recognition.
