It’s all happening.
McDonald’s said why not, and announced Wednesday its decision to finally make the Big Mac sauce, otherwise known as its special sauce, secret sauce, or as some believe “Thousand Island” sauce available on its menu.
“Whatever you call it, fans have been asking for an extra side of our famous Big Mac sauce for years,” McDonald’s said in a news release Wednesday.
There is a catch though, of course. It’s only for a limited time and the only way you can order it is through the McDonald’s app.
The promotion begins Thursday, April 27 and the dipping cups it’ll come in will be in retro blue and silver, “inspired by the OG Big Mac sandwich wraps.”
“The Big Mac has been an icon on the McDonald’s menu since it first debuted nationally in 1968, after an Owner/Operator in Pittsburg, PA came up with the idea for a double burger sandwich,” the release read. “And the fandom for the Big Mac has only grown with time… expanding to menus across the globe, creating social media craze when 10,000 bottles of Big Mac sauce were given away in the U.S. in 2017, and who could forget the classic ‘two all-beef patties…’ jingle we’re all still singing?”
The promotion is also only available at McDonald’s locations in South Texas and Central Texas. But don’t worry, the South Texas region of McDonald’s includes the Lower Rio Grande Valley area and surrounding communities.
