SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — South Padre Island is a buzz with visitors as schools and universities nationwide let out for spring break over the next two months, leading to a crush of new faces around the island.

The island’s beaches, restaurants and resorts are a popular destination this time of year, with families, friends and the ever-present fraternity and sorority groups making their way to South Texas to enjoy a little sun and sand on the Gulf Coast.
