A man wanted for his alleged involvement in an early morning New Year’s Day shooting that left three people injured at a party in Starr County was arrested Monday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.
Juan Gilberto Garza, 31, was arrested Monday around 11 a.m. while he was driving a white Chevy pickup on Old Highway 83 in Garceño, the sheriff’s office said via a social media post.
He was wanted in connection to the shooting that happened at a residence on Peña Street at about 3:10 a.m. on Jan. 1.
The sheriff’s office said witnesses told investigators that several vehicles arrived at the location where a man exited the passenger seat of a gray pick-up truck with a “rifle style firearm.”
“The suspect discharged his firearm several times, injuring three victims, then drove off,” the post stated.
Garza was arrested Monday without incident and booked at the Starr County Jail on six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of engaging in organized criminal activity.
