10 more die in Hidalgo County to COVID-19

Another 10 Hidalgo County residents died due to COVID-related complications, the county’s health department reported Tuesday.

The deceased residents — which included four people who were not vaccinated and six who were not up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines — were mostly individuals over 70 years old, but also included two men in their 60s and a man in his 50s.

Their deaths raise the county’s total number of COVID-related deaths to 4,064.

The county also reported 940 new cases which included 342 confirmed cases and 598 probable cases.

COVID-19 hospitalizations throughout the county remained about the same as they were in the county’s last update on Friday.

On Tuesday, the county reported 107 people were hospitalized with COVID-19, including 91 adults and 16 children. Of those adults, 19 were in intensive care units.

On Friday, the county reported there were 109 patients, including 88 adults and 21 children. Of those patients, 17 adults and one child were in the ICU.
