LUPE holds community rally in support of DACA recipients in downtown Brownsville

La Unión del Pueblo Entero (LUPE) held a community rally with current and former Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients Monday morning in downtown Brownsville.

The rally, held in front of the Brownsville federal courthouse at 600 E. Harrison St., was in response to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling on Texas v. United States against DACA on Oct. 5, sending it back to United States District Judge Andrew S. Hanen in Brownsville to further decide the fate of the program.

Speakers presented in both English and Spanish, and supporters displayed signs in support for the DACA program and to demand for a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants.
