The 34th Annual Regional Rio Grande Valley Spelling Bee was held at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance on Saturday.
Jie Laboriante, a fifth-grader at Garza Elementary School in McAllen, won her first regional spelling bee. She’ll soon head to Washington D.C. for the Scripps National Spelling Bee this May.
