The Brownsville Fire Department Mobile Integrated Healthcare Program and Community Paramedicine will administer 100 doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to elderly residents this week.
The MIH/CP program, established in December 2018, received 100 doses of the single-dose vaccine this week. Paramedics receive referrals for older residents who are eligible for the vaccine through doctors’ offices.

The MIH/CP program, which serves frequent 9-1-1 callers to assist them with non-urgent medical care, is offered to the elderly and bedridden residents. Brownsville is the only city in Cameron County to provide this service.
