Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr. is advising residents to continue to monitor the weather as Tropical Depression 22 is expected to become a tropical storm and could impact the county.
Trevino announced that the county will begin distributing sandbags around the county from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, or until supplies last.
Residents may pick up six sandbags per household.
Sandbags can be picked up at the following locations:
>>Commissioner Precinct 1 Warehouse: 2050 S. Browne Ave., Brownsville
>>Commissioner Precinct 2 Warehouse: 7092 Old Alice Rd., Brownsville
>>Commissioner Precinct 3 Warehouse: 26945 FM 510,Brownsville
>>Commissioner Precinct 4 Warehouse: 26623 White Ranch Road, La Feria
BROWNSVILLE
The City of Brownsville will distribute sandbags only on Saturday.
Residents must go by the Events Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while supplies last. There will be a limit of six bags per household.
HARLINGEN
The City of Harlingen is giving out sandbags today to residents and businesses. The distribution is being held today until 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Public Works Facility located at 404 South 54th Street. Residents will need an ID and utility bill. There will be a limit of six bags per household and 12 for businesses.
SAN BENITO
The City of San Benito will distribute sandbags on Saturday at the City Service Center at 925 W. Stenger from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until supplies run out. There will be a limit of five bags per home and business. Residents will be required to show an ID, utility bill or legal document. You must also wear and sandbag and now roll down the windows of your vehicle.
WILLACY COUNTY
Sebastian Fire Department – six bags per household
Lasara Community Center – six bags per household
County Precinct No. 2, East of Raymondville on FM 186 – six bags per household
County Precinct No. 3, South Business 77, Lyford – six bags per household
Lyford City Hall – six bags per household
San Perlita City Hall and Fire Station – six bags per household
Raymondville City Hall – six bags per household; residents need ID or water bill
PORT MANSFIELD
The Willacy County Navigation District began providing sand bags for residence of Port Mansfield at noon Friday. Bags can be picked up at the Harbor Offices on Laguna Drive and the sand pile is located behind the community church.
