Eleven more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes, the county health department said Friday night.
This brings the total number of coronavirus-related deaths here to 821, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement.
The individuals included two people in their 50s, four people in their 60s, one person his 70s and four people in their 80s.
Deaths were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen, Rio Hondo, San Benito and Santa Rosa.
Also Friday, the health department said it has received confirmation on an additional 40 coronavirus cases here, raising the total number in Cameron County to 21,983.
The new cases include two children ages 9 and younger, 11 people aged 10 to 19, five people in their 20s, three people in their 30s, four people in their 40s, 11 people in their 50s, one person in his 60s, two people in their 70s and one person in her 90s, the health department said.
New cases were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen, Laguna Vista, Los Fresnos, Rio Hondo and San Benito.
There have also been an additional 236 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 18,439, the health department said.
Cameron County Public Health said it continues to work with nine nursing home facilities addressing the COVID-19 outbreaks.
As part of the COVID-19 action response plan, Cameron County Public Health said it is conducting epidemiological investigations, contact tracing as needed and continues to monitor the situation.
