LETTERS: Bible depicts socialism

When Ms. Imelda Coronado refers to “Dear Lord” (Letters, May 24), I assume she is referring to Jesus or the Jewish God. I would remind her that Jesus was a very liberal Jew. Luke 6:30: “Give to everyone who asks of you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.” This is more socialist than Karl Marx. I can honestly say that I have never met a true Christian because no one will freely give me everything they own.

There is nothing in the Christian Bible that promotes free enterprise. In the Book of Acts, God executed two people for lying about the proceeds of a land sale. Acts 4:34-35: “Neither was there any among them that lacked, for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, and laid them down at the apostles’ feet, and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.” Christianity was the origin of socialism.

Acts 5:1-2: “But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.” Verses 5 and 10 have God killing them for keeping part of the money and lying about it.

Republicans claim to be good Christians. They profess to read the Bible but do the exact opposite of what the Bible teaches. Donald Trump does the opposite of everything Jesus taught. Why do Republicans ignore Jesus, follow the Big Lie and claim to be devout Christians? Money, power and sex, but never integrity.
