Wonder Woman 1984’ begins movies in park series Friday

HARLINGEN — The first installment of Summer Movies in the Park kicks off Friday with a showing of “Wonder Woman 1984.”

The free film event, sponsored by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, will be located downtown at Lozano Plaza and begins at 8 p.m.

“For this one we are not going to have any food vendors, so people are welcome to bring a picnic or a pizza or whatever they want,” Bethsalee Flores, recreation supervisor, told the parks and rec board Tuesday.

“We are going to have activities for the kids,” Flores added. “The movie starts at 8, but they can be early, like maybe 7:30, to participate in the other festivities and activities and games.”

Flores says people planning to attend the free film showing should bring blankets and lawn chairs, and that seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Wonder Woman 1984” is the popular 2017 film starring Gal Gadot.
