Local veterans join effort to find missing Raymondville woman

RAYMONDVILLE — The Willacy County sherriff is expected to formally ask the Border Patrol for help in finding a missing Raymondville woman.

Former U.S. Marine Nora Conde Villalobos, 49, was last seen the night of April 19 near her home.

Police said Nora, who suffers from hypertension and Crohn’s disease and is in need of medication, was wearing a red top with silver pants.

Her boyfriend who police said was the last person to see her is considered a person of interest. Police Chief Uvaldo Zamora said he is cooperating with authorities.

Yesterday, members of the Raymondville American Legion met, hoping to coordinate efforts to reach out to other veterans groups in the Rio Grande Valley to help find Nora.

However, in order to do so, a formal request has to be made by the sheriff first.

While the Raymondville Police Department is handling the investigation into Nora’s disappearance, Legion Post 390 Commander George Solis hopes they can also help find her through a search team.

By the weekend, Solis said a specialty team from within the Border Patrol will hopefully be sent to comb the county with the help of local volunteers.

“We’re hoping for the best,” Solis said.

The American Legion office here would be somewhat of a base camp.

Solis is hoping the specialty team will provide volunteers the necessary tips to help find Nora.

They will also have access to detailed county maps that could aid in the search.

Solis is encouraging all, especially fellow veterans, to help in the search.

“That’s what we are all about,” he said. “Helping veterans and their families.”
