Say yes to Texas residency

In response to E. Meno’s letter (about stopping his effort to change his residence from Michigan to Texas due to the work it took to register vehicles here).

May I suggest he reconsider his decision for the following reasons.

1. There is no State income tax in Texas compared to Michigan’s income tax. which I think is 4.25 percent.

Assuming I’m correct, it is easy to compute the savings so why not save your money ?

2. If a Medicare Advantage plan is not available where you live in Michigan, they are available in Cameron county. In my opinion, it can be a better plan than Medicare plus an expensive supplement. I save $200 monthly in premiums and can afford to pay a $10 copay office visit under my Humana plan. Other copays are higher but I’m saving over $200 every month so can certainly afford them.

3. When the time comes when you need home care, there are numerous sources here at much lower costs.

BTW, you aren’t halfway through, you’re almost finished.

Go for it. You’ll be pleased.

One note of caution, it appears that there are a high number of uninsured and underinsured drivers here so I suggest you carry high uninsured/underinsured liability limits on your policy.

With your income tax savings, you can afford it and the rest can go for cold beer at happy hour.
