Valley International Airport is putting Delta Air Lines on the tarmac, offering non-stop flights to Austin.

On Tuesday, officials announced Delta Air Lines is planning to launch daily, year-round, non-stop flights from Harlingen to Austin, beginning next Monday.

Beyond Austin, the airline will offer connecting flights to Atlanta, Boston and New York City, officials said in a news release.

“The new service will provide convenient travel options for both business and leisure travelers in the Rio Grande Valley,” they said.

The airlines is featuring a schedule offering Austin flights departing at 11:10 a.m., arriving in Harlingen at 12:29 p.m., with return flights from Harlingen departing at 1:44 p.m. while arriving in Austin at 3 p.m.

“We are excited to see (Delta) will have many connecting options beyond Austin,” Nicolas J. Mirman, Valley International Airport’s commercial director, said. “(Harlingen) would like to thank Delta Air Lines for believing in all of our citizens and our airport — the largest, most convenient airport in the RGV.”

The flights will feature Delta’s E175 regional jet, offering dual-class service.

“Delta’s new service is a testament to the growing demand for air travel in our region, and we are proud to partner with them to provide more travel options for our community,” Marv Esterly, the airport’s aviation director, said.
