Two Hidalgo women die in head-on collision early Sunday morning

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that left two women dead Sunday morning, according to a news release.

Authorities say the crash occurred approximately at 1:11 a.m. on S. Jackson Road, just south of Whalen Road, and involved two Hidalgo women.

Both Frida Nunez-Garza, 21, and Evelina Silva, 40, died due to injuries sustained during the collision, the release says.
