The Pharr Police Department is currently searching for a group of teens after one of them allegedly opened fire at a local shopping center Sunday.
Officers arrived at the 500 block of North Jackson road in reference to shots fired near the plaza, according to a Wednesday news release from police. When officers arrived, they found four 9mm casings.
Witnesses told authorities they had seen a group of teens outside the shops who got into a “verbal altercation.” One of them pulled a handgun from the crossbody bag he carried, the release said.
Witnesses also heard four gunshots before the suspects left the scene in a white Volkswagen Jetta.
“Surveillance video shows the suspect pointing the gun at an unknown subject as he’s walking toward the parking lot,” the release said.
Each of the teens is believed to be about 16-17 years old. The alleged shooter was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, black shoes and a crossbody bag. Another was seen in a red and black shirt and blue jeans, while the other wore a white shirt and blue jeans.
Police are asking anyone with more information to call the Pharr Crime Stopper at (956) 787-8477.
