Jesus “Jesse” Zepeda

IDEA Public Schools announced Tuesday that it has named Jesus “Jesse” Zepeda as a member of the advisory board of directors for its Rio Grande Valley region.

Zepeda, who lives in Weslaco, is currently an assistant vice president at Lone Star National bank.

“I am honored to serve on the IDEA board that focuses on the values that were instilled in me as a young child and adult by my grandfather,” Zepeda wrote in a news release. “I feel empowered to help make an impact on children from similar backgrounds as my own.” Born in Houston, Zepeda was raised in the Valley and is a University of Texas Rio Grande Valley graduate, the release said. He holds a masters in business administration and has been in banking for 10 years.

“We are thrilled to have Jesse join us on our Advisory Board of Directors,” said Jill Dominguez, Superintendent of IDEA Rio Grande Valley. “Jesse amplifies true commitment to our scholars and community, and we’re happy to have him prioritize higher education in our region.”
