Nursing home resident dies from COVID-19

Cameron County has confirmed that another nursing home resident has died from COVID-19 related causes.

The individual was a 74-year-old resident of Spanish Meadows in Brownsville, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement Wednesday.

This raises the total number of coronavirusrelated deaths in Cameron County to 71.

Also Wednesday, the county health department reported an additional 123 cases of the virus here, raising the total number of cases in Cameron County to 3,120.

The new cases range froma5-year-oldHarlingen girl and a 7-year-old Brownsville boy to an 85-year-old Brownsville woman.

Cases also were reported in Indian Lake, La Feria, Los Fresnos, Primera, Rancho Viejo, Rio Hondo, San Benito Santa Rosa and South Padre Island.
