3 deaths, 123 new virus cases in Cameron

Three more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes and 123 new cases of the disease have been confirmed here in two days.

A 61-year-old Brownsville man was reported to have died Tuesday and a 64-year-old woman and 78-year-old man from Brownsville were reported to have died Wednesday. That raises the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Cameron County to 47.

Also over those two days, Cameron County Public Health reported an additional 123 cases, bringing the total number of cases here to 1,301.

Thursday’s testing results from the county health department were not available by press time.

The new cases include two 1-year-old boys from Brownsville, a 1-year-old girl in Los Fresnos, a 3-year-old girl in San Benito, a 3-year-old boy in San Benito and an 85-year-old woman from Brownsville.

New cases also were reported in Harlingen, Combes, La Feria, Olmito, Primera and Santa Rosa.

There have also been an additional 44 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals in Cameron County to 807.
