Contactless service: GreenPal lawn-mowing business expands to Harlingen

HARLINGEN — Local homeowners now have more options when it comes to finding someone to landscape their yard.

GreenPal, a lawn-mowing business that connects homeowners with local, vetted lawn care professionals, expanded its service to Harlingen and nearby cities.

The Nashville-based company started in 2015 and currently operates in more than 46 states.

“After successfully launching in 200 other markets, we are excited to help homeowners in Harlingen find reliable, safe and local lawn care,” GreenPal co-founder Gene Caballero said.

According to Caballero, GreenPal eliminates the need for homeowners and lawn care professionals to meet for payment and use cash.

Homeowners can utilize GreenPal’s service by downloading its app or by visiting their website.

The business’ technology enables vendors to bid on lawns without needing to visit the property and talk face-to-face with the homeowner.

How it works

After homeowners enter the address of the property they want serviced with a service date and details of lawn care needs on GreenPal, lawn care professionals can then bid on their properties based on Google street aerial images and any other lawn details homeowners provide.

Then, homeowners can select who they want to work with based on the vendor’s ratings, reviews and price.

Once a vendor has completed the service, the lawn care professional will send a time-stamped photo of the completed work to the homeowner.

Payments can then be made via the app.

According to Caballero, vendors can sign up with GreenPal for free.

Every vendor that signs up with GreenPal has to have commercial-grade equipment, and a valid Social Security number, bank account and driver’s license.

Additionally, they will go through a vetting process and will need to present pictures of their previous work.
