A power outage Saturday afternoon left nearly 16,000 AEP Texas Customers without electricity for nearly two hours.
According to the AEP website, the outage impacted residents and businesses in San Benito, Rio Hondo and parts of Harlingen. The site indicated 15,678 customers were without service at one point.
The problem started at the La Palma Substation in San Benito off off Business 77. Several fire trucks were called to the plant.
On Facebook some residents said they were shopping when the stores went dark, while another said she was at the theater when the lights went out.
