The Aguirre family of McAllen, creators of Emily’s Meals, have been selected by vote as the 2019 Disney and Points of Light Volunteer Family of the Year. The announcement was made today on Good Morning America.
The Aguirre family coordinates with more than 100 people across the Rio Grande Valley to provide for homeless people. The leading initiative of the organization is the promise to drop off meals for the homeless.
The family was selected from a group of five finalist families who have dedicated their time to helping others. Over 400 families applied for the title of Disney and Points of Light Volunteer Family of the year.
They will receive $10,000 for their project, and a family vacation to Walt Disney World.
