Rio Hondo ISD Police creates haunted house

RIO HONDO — An array of free candy and goodies are distributed by Rio Hondo Independent School District Police Department.

In collaboration with the annual “Spooktacular” Halloween event hosted by the Rio Hondo Youth Sports League yesterday, Rio Hondo’s ISD police department presented a haunted house.

Children were able to enjoy the fun from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Rio Hondo County baseball park located at 813 S. Reynolds Road.

Community businesses, organizations and clubs along with city officials offered free candy.

A costume contest was held and prizes were given out to the winners.

The event has been happening for a few years but this is the first time the Rio Hondo ISD police department participated.

“This is the first year for the haunted house. It is free entrance,” Chief Nick Garza said.

“We are doing it for the community and for them to enjoy it. Also the relationship with the kids,” Garza said.
