Man hospitalized with ‘serious injuries’ after being struck by Palmhurst police unit, McAllen PD says

MCALLEN — Police here are investigating an auto-pedestrian collision in which a Palmhurst police unit struck a man who’s reported to have sustained “serious injuries” from the incident, which occurred Tuesday morning, McAllen police Lt. Joel Morales said.

According to Morales, the incident occurred at around 10:39 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of North Taylor Road and Buddy Owens Boulevard in McAllen.

Morales said a man was hit by a city of Palmhurst police unit and was transported to a local hospital with what the lieutenant described as serious injuries.

“The driver of the motor vehicle remained at the scene. The motor vehicle is a city of Palmhurst police unit, and of course the operator is a police officer,” Morales said.

Morales said it’s not yet known whether the police officer involved in the collision was on duty at the time of the incident, adding only that the collision “remains under investigation.”

The condition of the man who was struck in the incident remains unknown.

Attempts to reach the Palmhurst Police Department for comment have been unsuccessful.
