HARLINGEN — Two teenagers have been arrested after a shooting incident that led to a brief pursuit before being apprehended by authorities.
David Steven Garza, 18, and Tony Isaiah Hernandez, 17, both from Harlingen, face charges of aggravated robbery, police said.
According to a police report, on Sept. 21 at approximately 3:06 a.m. Harlingen officers were dispatched to 703 N. Ed Carey Dr. in reference to a shooting.
Authorities report a female witness advised officers that a shooting had occurred in the parking lot, but everyone had fled the scene.
While officers were with the witness, other officers located both vehicles involved in the incident.
During the investigation, one male subject was found to be shot in the leg during an alleged sale of illegal narcotics on Ed Carey Drive, police said.
He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officers also located a second vehicle that attempted to flee, police said.
After a brief pursuit, Garza and Hernandez were taken into custody and transported to the Harlingen City Jail, police said.
Garza was charged with aggravated robbery with a $300,000 bond, engaging in criminal activity with a $100,000 bond and evading arrest with a $15,000 bond.
Hernandez was charged with aggravated robbery with a $300,000 bond and engaging in criminal activity with a $100,000 bond.
Authorities are still investigating this case.
