PORT ISABEL — An investigation is underway for an alleged threat posted on social media that was addressed to the Port Isabel High School campus.
According to Point Isabel Independent School District representatives, a social media post began circulating Thursday evening into the early morning hours yesterday.
Details of the alleged threat have not been disclosed by the district.
Parents and guardians received an automated phone call from the district yesterday morning regarding the alleged threat.
”Please know that together with our police department, we have spent the entire morning investigating and have concluded that none of what was posted actually occurred,” the automated call stated. “Please know that our students are safe.”
Classes and school activities proceeded as scheduled yesterday.
According to district representatives, all campuses were monitored, received additional law enforcement and remained fully operational.
District representatives said they understood the incident created a lot of fear and disruption to the community.
“The safety of our students and staff is a priority,” Point Isabel ISD Superintendent of Schools Theresa Alarcon stated in a press release yesterday. “Point Isabel ISD takes all comments and threats seriously and will conduct through investigations.”
