The family of a transgender woman who disappeared from downtown Brownsville a little more than two years ago is pleading for whoever called police anonymously in March 2018 to call back and talk to detectives.
Ivon Rodarte, Ramiro “Kimberly” Avila’s sister, fought back tears as she begged for the anonymous caller to reach out to police and talk to authorities about her loved one’s disappearance.
“You had a reason to call that day and give the information you gave,” Rodarte said, flanked by family members while holding a portrait of Avila. “I’m begging you to call back.”
Brownsville Police Department Spokeswoman Melissa Gonzalez didn’t disclose the contents of that phone call, one of several the police received, but promised whoever it was that made that March 2018 call that they would remain anonymous.
Avila was 32 when he disappeared from downtown Brownsville around 2:30 a.m. on May 13, 2017.
