A unique day camp focused on outdoor skills and pursuits will be offered this summer at Oliveira Park in Brownsville.
Starting June 10, the Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department and Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge are partnering to offer a day camp focused on outdoor skills including fishing, kayaking, hunting knowledge, birding, photography and more.
The Junior Rangers Outdoor Adventure Camp, open to any kids in the area, runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday through Aug. 9 at Oliveira Park in Brownsville.
Eligible kids must be between the ages of 6 and 17. Cost is $30 per child for a week and breakfast and lunch will be provided by the Brownsville Independent School District. Pre-registration for the day camp is required.
“It’s really going to be a hands-on experience,” said George Garcia, urban ranger with Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge.
