College fair to feature close to 50 schools

HARLINGEN — Representatives from close to 50 colleges and universities will visit Harlingen on Monday for the opportunity to meet students and their parents at the 3rd Annual TACAC Rio Grande Valley Regional College Fair.

The free event, organized by the nonprofit group Texas Association for College Admission Counseling, will take place at Casa de Amistad, 1204 Fair Park Blvd., in two parts — the day fair from 1 to 4 p.m. and the night fair from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

“This is a free event for high school students and their families throughout the Rio Grande Valley,” stated David Eric Garcia, director of the UT Austin Valley Admissions Center, via email. “This event would be most beneficial for high school students in the ninth through 11th grades as they can receive vital information on admissions deadlines, admissions requirements, financial aid information and scholarship information.”

Institutions of higher education from throughout the state and the country, as well as international schools, will be present at the fair.

Garcia explained high school students will be bused to the fair from 1 to 4 p.m.
