“Be careful what you wish for …” How have I missed this story in the main stream media? Oh, that’s right. It doesn’t fit the MSM template that “liberalism and socialism are good.”
I don’t expect the Valley Morning Star to cover international news thoroughly in an instant news world, but VMS readers should know what’s happening in South Africa.
It could be a red flag to those buying the liberals’ arguments for a “pure Democracy” vs. our Republic, including their positions against the Electoral College (‘Hillary would be President’) and their desire to change the Constitution in favor of the “have nots” (translation: Likely Democrat voters). Thank our Founders for making this difficult.
We all agreed apartheid in South Africa was wrong, and celebrated its 1994 end while recognizing Nelson Mandela’s courage.
South Africa became a “pseudo democracy,” but apparently one without the safeguards the Founders built into our Republic.
The transfer of property from the Dutch descendants of the colonists to ‘the people’ started with good will and hope that it would proceed fairly. That process has now broken down, and it is not a pretty sight. Here is an excerpt from news.com.au via the Drudge Report.
“The South African government has begun seizing land from white farmers. Two game farms in the northern province of Limpopo are the first to be targeted for unilateral seizure after negotiations with the owners to purchase the properties stalled.
(My comments within this quote are in parentheses: The government offered only 1/10 what the owners believed it was worth, and the Department of Rural Development and Land Affairs, with the “wink, wink” approval of the leftist Congress, issued the following ominous letter to the owners.) “Notice is hereby given that a terrain inspection will be held on the farms on April 5, 2018 at 10 am in order to conduct an audit of the assets and a handover of the farm’s keys to the state,” The seizures are intended to test the ability of the government to take land under existing laws, which the ruling, far left African National Congress (“ANC”) has stated is allowable if “in the public interest.”
Earlier this month, City Press reported the government had drawn up a list of 139 farms to seize just to “test out” section 25 of the Constitution. (Allegedly there are hundreds, maybe thousands, on the complete list.) This comes as the South African government pushes ahead with plans to amend the Constitution to allow for the expropriation of land without compensation.
Since the end of apartheid, the ANC has followed a “willing seller, willing buyer” process to redistribute whiteowned farms to blacks, but has apparently changed its tune to support government takeovers.
An ANC spokesman said, “This will redress all the past grievances against blacks.”
Whites, accounting for less than 10 percent of the population, still own about 70 percent of the private farms.
Earlier this month, a cattle farmer told an ABC reporter his large farm just outside Johannesburg was now “worth zero”. “We canceled several auctions in the past 3 weeks because no one is interested in buying land the government will take over.”
Many white land owners already have fled South Africa with only the clothes on their backs, and many more are planning to do so rather than put their families at the risk of governmentcondoned slaughter.
Prepare to see ‘Zimbabwe 2’ in the next 10 years because thousands of rookie farmers – aka black nationals – will have neither the skill nor work ethic to feed the country and employ workers. South Africa is likely to become the next failed Socialist ‘experiment’.
These final thoughts are directed to liberals (OK Progressives if you prefer), still hopefully less than half the U.S. voters, pushing hard against the ills of capitalism and in favor of a ‘fair system’ – ie., more government control, socialism, income redistribution, and even slavery reparations.
I challenge liberals to convince hard working Americans making, let’s say, $40,000 a year or with hopes of making that and much more to buy your socialist, share the wealth platform.
Good luck selling your leftist message to those who understand it. Your only hope is to disguise your message, which I must admit liberals with the strong support of the MSM are brilliant at doing.
“Fasten your seatbelts” if the Democrats regain control of Congress in November.
