Don’t bite the hands that feeds you

Well, I knew the day would come when the Rio Grande Valley would need the help of President Trump. That day has arrived with the recent devastating flood that happened.

However, in order for federal funds to be used to help Valley residents, President Trump has to

designate this location as a disaster area.

Now, our Congressmen from the Valley, Filemon Vela and Vicente Gonzales have to face Trump with hat in hand with a “por favor.” Now, you think Trump will jump to answer favorably when both our Congressmen have called Trump names and boycotted his inauguration?

There is an old saying that states you do not bite the hand that feeds you.

Our two Congressmen have done just that. Trump

may go ahead and free the federal funds and I really hope he does. Valley residents desperately need the help. But, our two Congressmen need to understand that they should look out for the best interest of the people they represent and leave their own personal feeling aside.

They were elected to represent their constituents, not to represent themselves.

Sincerely, Guadalupe E. Aguirre Edinburg
